Special Economic Zones (SEZ) is the Local Government of Province Kepulauan Riau’s development and economic program on Riau archipelago into special regions of Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island.

SEZ meant is the companies operating’s area for import and export tariff concession as well as additional fiscal, financial, and economic development incentive. There are two types of SEZ category:
Simple Scale
- Alow import of raw material & capital equipment and concesional tariff rates
- Allow export without custom or excise taxes
- If product is imported into domestic country, custom duty and/or excise taxes are due when transferred
Full Scale
- Fiscal Incentive (Preferential Tax Rate)
- Financial (Low Coast Loan-Grant)
- Economic Development Incentive
- Reduced of government bureaucracy
