Bank CIMB Niaga Completes Legal Merger with PT Bank Lippo Tbk

Jakarta: PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk on 3 November 2008 announced that it has completed its legal merger with PT Bank Lippo Tbk on 1 November 2008. The merger was effected after CIMB Group Sdn Bhd acquired 51% of LippoBank shares from Santubong Investments BV, on 28 October 2008, and followed by LippoBank’s shareholders to exchange their shares to Bank CIMB Niaga’s. LippoBank’s shares were de-listed from the Indonesia Stock Exchange.


Shareholders of both Bank CIMB Niaga and LippoBank who opted to sell their shares to CIMB Group received their cash payment on 7 November 2008. At the end of the merger exercise, CIMB Group emerges as the controlling shareholder in Bank CIMB Niaga with 77.75%.

This merger for growth creates a stronger and larger bank that is poised to offer a more comprehensive range of products and services to our customers,” said Arwid Rasyid, the new President Director of Bank CIMB Niaga, at the launch of Bank CIMB Niaga logo today.

With the merger, Bank CIMB Niaga’s total assets increase to around Rp100 trillion, and is supported by almost 11.000 professional employees. Its products and services are now offered through a wider network of over 650 branches and 1.450 ATM and Self Service Terminal (SST) services across 120 cities nationwide.

“The merged bank combines the inherent strengths of Bank CIMB Niaga in home loans and corporate banking with LippoBank’s leadership in retail banking and payment process, and is backed by CIMB Group’s regional universal baking platform. With these strengths we are confident to give the best service to our customers in Indonesia,” said Arwin.

Now, customers of both Bank CIMB Niaga and LippoBank will continue performing their banking transactions as usual, as full business integration, including branch conversions and systems integration will only be completed at the end of 2009. Customers can however, begin enjoying certain benefits with immediate effect, including a waiver of inter-bank fees for cash withdrawals at Bank CIMB Niaga and LippoBank ATM machines. Customers can also familiarize themselves with Bank CIMB Niaga products – such as applying CHIP EMV credit card (Europay, Mastercard and Visa Chip Card) – at branded Bank CIMB Niaga spaces within selected branches.

Revitalizing Malay Culture 2008

After Welcoming Party at night before, yesterday morning on December, 16 2008 the 2nd year of Revitalizing Malay Culture 2008 was opened in Hotel Nelayan - Senggarang by Mayor of Tanjungpinang City.

The event started on December, 16 - 20 with activities such as; Seminar of Malay Culture, Traditional Poetry Competition, Asean Cultures Camp, Parade of Traditional Poetry Clump, The Art Festival, that being participate by Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Jakarta, Aceh, Medan, Palembang, Jambi, Pekanbaru, Kalimantan, Kab.Bintan, Natuna, Daik / Lingga, Batam, Karimun, and Tanjungpinang City.

Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport

Japan’s colonial era was open and built an airport field in Tanjungpinang about 1942. Terrain here are not flat at all, in fact there more hills spread out in landscape. But before they finish, Japan was defeated in World War II on 1945 without had any chance for using it. The field was abandoned since then.

Tanjungpinang in Bintan Island very strategic city over centuries, so with the air or sea transportation need for Riau isle and for Indonesia country. The first flight in Tanjungpinang was in around 1948 by Holland’s KLM company with amphibian plane called ‘Cataline’. What we can look to the airport building at these days, still has not many changed. Even that in 2002, Tanjungpinang City the new authorities by The Mayor of local government started planned to develop the airport, and in 2003 has got into their first city planning, The Tanjungpinang City’s RUTRK. And now with the new Governor territorial of Province Kepulauan Riau where also place in Tanjungpinang, they are both keep continue to the planning.



Tanjungpinang’s Airport was known before ‘Kijang Airport’, but they changed airport name appropiate with city’s new territorial as a name of local historic patriot and being “R.H. Fisabilillah Airport” several month ago at 2008.

A place that used to be called Tanjungpinang Plaza which is a public spot and a place for relax located in front of Tanjungpinang City’s face, the place is in the main street that exact infront of Gedung Daerah the government’s building. The place popular call is ‘Ocean Corner’ among the youth in Tanjungpinang City.

The place is located in the corner between main street of Jl. H. Agus Salim with a gateway to the port of Sri Bintan Pura where there was a monument of Tanjungpinang City emblem. The place view is oriented to the sea and mainly to the historical “Mesjid Raya Sultan Riau” or Penyengat Mosque that built in 19 era, in year 1832 (1 Syawal 1249 H) about 300 metres away in Penyengat Island. The place is used to; events, ceremonies, and public area for isle community.
